Basic Adult  Leader Outdoor  Orientation (BALOO)

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation is a one-day training event that introduces parents and leaders to the skills needed to plan and conduct pack outdoor activities, particularly pack camping. It is one day training held bi-annual alternating between Camp Brulé and Camp Gorton

BALOO includes information on:

  • Preparations for camping with Cub Scouts
  • Site selection
  • Parent involvement
  • Health and safety
  • Equipment
  • Feeding
  • Introduction to outdoor skills

This training is required for any adult who is in charge of planning a pack campout, and it is recommended that at least one adult per pack complete BALOO training. 

Next BALOO Training will be at University of Scouting on February 25th, 2017. Look for on line registration coming in January.

BALOO will also be taught at the Spring MEGA Training weekend at Camp Brule on April 22nd, 2017.
