Cub Scout Winteree

 

Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 8 am to 1 pm

 

Wizards of Gorton Details:

The Cub Scout Winteree is a fun day for Cub Scouts, families, siblings and leaders to enjoy participating in various activities with their fellow Scouts throughout the District. Numerous fun challenges await Thunderbird District Cub Scouts so come on over to snowy Camp Gorton for a funtastic morning!

 

Winteree Participant:

Any Cub Scout, parent, sibling or Cub Scout Leader (from any District) who is ready to have snow-filled fun! Packs should divide themselves into Dens of 6-8 members. Each Den will need to have a copy of the Wizards of Gorton Activity Sheet to track their progress. (Copies will be available at the Winteree).

 

Where:

The 2019 Thunderbird  Wizards of Gorton Winteree will be held at snowy Camp Gorton, which is nestled aside the chilled waters of the semi-frozen Waneta Lake, 4241 County Route 25, Dundee NY 14837.                                                                                                                                                                

 

REGISTRATION

The registration fee is $7.00 apiece for Scouts, siblings, and 2 registered adults.

Registration fees include a patch (one for each paid participant), camp use, coffee and cocoa.

All checks should be made payable to Five Rivers Council, if using the Pay By Mail Option

 

 

 WIZARDS OF GORTON LINE UP

 

8:15am-8:40am:  Registration– Dining Hall

 

8:45am:  Opening Ceremonies– Parade Field

 

9:00am-11:00am:  Wizards of Gorton Activities Open

 

11am to 11:45 Group Games

 

11:45-12:30pm:  Lunch

 

12:30pm:  Closing Ceremony– Dining Hall

 

CAMPING:

This event is considered a District Event during the scheduled times.  Units wishing to make a weekend out of the Winteree must make their own arrangements and reservations through the Service Center.  A BALOO trained adult must be present to do any overnight camping.   Contact the Service Center at 607-796-0699 for more details and to book your cabin.   Cabins sell out quickly.

WHAT TO BRING:

*Lunch: Every Scout, family member, and Leader must bring his/her own lunch OR preorder lunch from the OA.

*Warm Clothing: Most activities are outdoors – Scouts should dress appropriately (i.e. no sneakers)

*Adult Supervision: Each Pack should make sure it has enough adult supervision. Each Den needs to have at least one adult assigned to it.

 

Packs must have a minimum of two adults registered (two deep leadership).

*A Drinking Cup! Help cut down on waste by bringing your own reusable cup.

 

WINTEREE STAFF:

Any adults or older Boy Scouts who are willing to serve on Winteree Staff are asked to contact Jud Stearns at 607-587-8414 or email at judd@frontiernet.net

Remember, if you are on Staff you will not be able to supervise a Den.

REMEMBER:

Bring Lunch or purchase from OA.  (must be pre-ordered).

Carpool – there isn’t enough room for everyone’s car.

Extra clothes – Scouts find a way to get wet.
