The Body in the official BSA Pinewood Derby Kit must be used and built in this scouting year.  Precut kits, and bodies of other materials will be disqualified and will not be allowed to compete. The body may be shaped, hollowed out, or built up from the original block as long as it meets all other specifications.  Any additions to the original body (drivers, decals, paint, weights, etc.) must be firmly attached.  Taped items are not permitted.  Dimensions Overall finished length may not exceed 7”, width 3”, wheel clearance 3/8” height 3”, between wheels 1 ¾”.  Wheels and axle nails must be used as furnished in the official kit.  No solid axles. No “V””H” rounded or grooved shaped wheels, washers, bushings, bearings, rubber tubing, or springs are allowed. Car wheelbase may not be altered – use slots provided on block for axle wheel pins. All 4 wheels MUST be flat, parallel and touch the track at the same time.  Weight added to the race-ready car (wedge or pinewood) must not exceed five (5) ounces, (141.7 grams), using the official scales when the car is registered.  Added weights must be firmly attached.  Lead weights must be sealed and can be drilled out to bring car to proper weight.  Lubricating Dry Graphite is the only approved lubricant!  No lubricants may be applied once the cars are registered and impounded.  Other: Cars must freewheel with no stored energy or movable weights.  There is no designated front or back to the supplied body: either end may be the front.  Impoundment: All cars will be impounded when registered.  Cars will not be returned until the end of the race.  After being impounded, repairs will be limited to only replacing axles/wheels that are broken or lost during the race.  If repairs can not be made in five minutes, the car will be disqualified.

Cars will be disqualified if the Scout OR parent display unsportsmanlike conduct anytime during the race.

Participating Packs MUST fill out the ONLINE preregistration Racing Form by March 1, 2019.  FAILURE TO PREREGISTER AND PREPAY will prevent your scouts from racing.  Packs are to send their top 5 finishers (regardless of rank). COME IN UNIFORM as pictures will be taken.
