Cub Scout Day camp is sure to come alive for your cub Scout! Cub Scout Day Camp is a camp which is held in a local community
and runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM until 3:00 PM. What will your son be doing? Sports, crafts, archery, BB Guns,
nature, and much more! Day camp isn't just an activity program for your son. It is much more! it is a program based on
the Scouting ideals which revolves around a central theme. This theme helps tie together all the activities and make Day
Camp come alive!!
While we encourage Packs and Dens to sign up for Day Camp as a group, we do accept individual reservations. Parents that
volunteer to work the week of day Camp as a member of the staff receive a discounted rate.

What is Cub Scout Day Camp?
A Cub Scout Day Camp is an adventure filled program that happens at several local locations throughout the Five Rivers Council.
Volunteer Camp Directors and staff plan a week packed full of fun and excitement. Day camps are designed to meet the needs
and interest of Cubs by providing great age appropriate activities and daily programs.
Who can attend Cub Scout Day Camp?
Cub Scouts… Any boy entering grades 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in the fall of 2002 are eligible to attend day camp.
Who runs the Cub Scout Day Camp?
Each camp provides local staff who runs the daily events. Scouts are organized into dens by grade, with the den leader being
from the camp staff, an adult from your own pack, or even interested parents. The staff is approved by the council camping
committee and trained by the Boy Scouts of America.
Should I attend Day Camp if I went to Resident Camp?
YES! Cub Scouts are encouraged to participate in both day and resident camping programs. Day Camps begin after resident
camp and offer a different program look and routine; the events, crafts, and programs are always changing. If you sign up
for both Day and Resident camp in 2001 you will receive a discount. It is hard to find a better way to spend two weeks in
a Cub Scout's summer than at day and resident camps.
Camperships are available for those Scouts in financial need.
What do we eat?
Lunch! - Each day, campers provide their own lunch. There will be special days and meals for campers and their families.
In most camp locations refrigeration is not available so we recommend that you pack lunch items that are nonperishable.
Do I have to Pre-register?
That is up to you… Those scouts that are pre-registered (before June 1st) will receive the discounted rate. Also, to ensure
availability of T-shirts and patches please pre-register. Campers that are registered two weeks prior to the opening of a
camp will receive a T-shirt on opening day and a patch by week’s end. Those scouts walking in will receive a T-shirt and
patch but it may not be until late in the week of camp.
Do I wear my Cub Scout Uniform?
No, the Day Camp uniform will be a T-shirt provided by the camp on the first day. Sneakers, shorts and a poncho may be
appropriate depending on weather conditions. It is recommended that you also bring a canteen or water bottle. More
information will be mailed out before your first day of program.
What is the Day Camp Program?
The day camp program includes various activities such as crafts, archery, bb-gun, sports, nature, outdoor skills, ceremonies,
games, and other special presentations. Some camps even involve swimming and fishing. You will receive a letter from the
camp director explaining the camp program, rules and expectations prior to your arrival at the camp.
How are the camps regulated for safety?
Our day camps are supervised by Boy Scouts of America National Camp School certified directors, health officers are on duty
while camp is in session, and operate under the safety and program standards of both the Boy Scouts of America and the New
York State Department of Health (Information regarding the Permit to Operate a Children’s Camp or National Accreditation

How do I find our more information about the Day Camp that I am attending?
A welcoming notice will be sent to all participants before the day camp begins. This will be an opportunity to confirm your
attendance and share all the important information concerning your specific day camp. If you should need more information
